Spring Barrel Yakima Valley-Prosser

April 23rd-25th:

Spring !!!

Seven people, one RV and a weekend adventure in Yakima Valley for some wine tasting! We all met up after work on Friday and headed east over the mountains. We stopped in Ellensburg for some dinner and then continued on our way to Sunnyside, near Prosser. The RV park was full, so we stayed in the local Wal-Mart parking lot.

We got up really early Saturday morning, I saw the sun rise! I proceeded to try and exit the RV to use the Wal-Mart restroom, however I couldn't figure out how to unlock the door with the two locks.

Eric made delicious breakfast burritos, so we had a good start before all the wine. We first visited Kestrel Vintners and Hogue Cellars. Great wine and a special weekend deal, left everyone with newly purchased wine.

Next, we headed to Airport Ranch. The ranch includes 15 plus wineries, all within walking distance. We parked the RV and walked to the farthest winery, so we could work our way back. Along the way, we smelled fried asparagus and couldn't resist.

The Ranch includes: Airfield Estates, which has a great Dolcetto wine and I loved the name! Gamache Vintners, Milbrandt Vineyards, Olsen Estates, Willow Crest, Thurston Wolfe, Apex, Brigman, Heaven's Cave, Plaza Winery, Tasawik Vineyards and Wine O' Clock.

At some point the seven of us got separated and didn't see each other until much later in the afternoon. Kaycee and I were together and kept going to the different wineries and tasting. We hadn't seen anyone and neither of us had our phones, so we were stuck. We decided to go back to the RV and leave a note.

After leaving a note on the windshield, we visited a few more wineries. We even purchased some jewelry. When we were back near the RV, we saw the door open and ran over. Everyone was back together, so we decided to have a picnic.

After our bellies were full...it was nap time!

Music was blaring from one of the wineries, nap time was over and it was time for more wine.

We closed down Willow Crest with the owners, before heading to a local pizza joint. After Johnny's Pizza, it was back to Wal-Mart for the night.
We were up early again and drove to Ellensburg for breakfast. It was a great trip and the RV worked out great. Thanks for driving Eric...can't wait for next year!
